CS8391- OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING

Course Outline:

In this course you will be introduced to the basic ideas behind the Object Oriented Programming Concepts in Java. You can also learn about the real time implementation of the OOPS concepts in projects. In this course we are going to focus on Object Oriented Programming concepts such as Exception Handling, Inheritance, Multithreading, Generic and Event Driven Programming, Fundamentals of java and we will see a Real Time Examples for each and every Concepts.

1. Introduction to OOPS, Java Fundamentals, Inheritance and Interfaces

• Oops Fundamentals and Java Basic Fundamentals.
• Characteristics of Java.
• Fundamental Programming Structures in Java.
• Defining classes in Java.
• Inheritance-Superclasses and Subclasses.
• Abstract Classes and Methods.
• Interface- defining an Interface,Implementing an Interface.
• Difference between an Classes and Interface.
• Object Cloning.

2. Exception Handling, I/O,Multithreading Generic Programming and Event Driven Programming

• Exceptions-exceptions hierarchy, creating and throwing an exception, built in exceptions.
• Reading and writing consoles.
• Differences between Multithreading and Multitasking,various Thread Concepts Generic classes,Generic Methods.
• Graphics Programming- Frames, Components- working with 2D shapes.
• Basics of Event Handling- Event Handlers.
• Swing- Swing Components.
